The Brazilian Bull
Known in Brazil as the Pit Monster, or Brazilian Pit Monster, the Brazilian Bull is a bully-type breed developed in Brazil. Don't let the name fool you: these are calm, affectionate dogs, closely related to the American Bully in temperament. Gentle giants. Marathon Kennels is one of the most prominent Brazilian Bull programs in the United States: we breed and import them from our home base in Oklahoma, and our stud Mavrok came to us from Brazil.

What is a Brazilian Bull?
The Brazilian Bull was developed in Brazil, where it goes by Pit Monster, Pitmonster or Brazilian Pit Monster. We prefer Brazilian Bull, and so do many breeders in the United States, because it fits the dog better: the breed was selected for a compact, heavily muscled build, a broad head and a steady, people-focused temperament that is much closer to the American Bully's than the name suggests.
It is still a young breed outside Brazil, so well-documented imports and careful pairings matter.
Brazilian Bulls are often compared to the XL American Bully. They are different breeds with their own standards, though they share bully-type roots and suit many of the same homes: families who want a confident, affectionate companion with real presence.
As with any bully breed, structure and temperament vary from program to program. Ask to see the parents, their pedigrees and how the puppies are raised before you commit.
Brazilian Bulls at Marathon Kennels
One of the most prominent Brazilian Bull programs in the country, ours is built around Mavrok, imported from Brazil, and females chosen to complement him. Pairings are planned for temperament and health first, then structure and pedigree compatibility.
Puppies are raised in our family home around our kids and our other dogs, and we stay in touch with families after their puppy goes home.
We also import Brazilian Bulls for families and breeding programs, and coordinate transport within the US and abroad where the rules allow.

Brazilian Bull litters
Is a Brazilian Bull right for you?
They do best with people who have time for daily exercise, early socialization and consistent training. Their size and strength call for an adult who can handle a powerful dog on a lead.
Tell us about your home, your experience and what you're looking for, and we'll be honest about whether one of our litters is a fit.
Common questions
- Is a Brazilian Bull the same as a Brazilian Pit Monster?
- Yes. Pit Monster, or Pitmonster, is the name used in Brazil. In the United States the breed is usually called the Brazilian Bull, and that's the name we use: the temperament is calm and much closer to an American Bully than the name suggests.
- Are Brazilian Bulls aggressive?
- Not in our experience, and not what the breed was developed for. Ours are gentle giants: steady, affectionate and people-focused. Like any large, powerful dog they need early socialization, consistent training and an adult who can handle them on a lead.
- How is a Brazilian Bull different from an XL American Bully?
- They are separate breeds with their own standards. Both are bully types, but the Brazilian Bull was developed in Brazil along its own lines. We breed both and are happy to talk through the differences for your situation.
- Do you ship Brazilian Bull puppies?
- Pickup in Oklahoma is our preference. When that isn't possible we coordinate ground or flight transport ourselves, case by case, and quote the cost per trip.
- How do I reserve a puppy?
- Send an inquiry. It starts a conversation with Jonathon; it doesn't hold a puppy or set a pick order, and nothing is charged on this site.
- Is Mavrok available for stud?
- Mavrok is open to stud inquiries. Pricing and service options are shared on inquiry.
